Empire of Lies: How the "Davos Dialogue" Masks an Era of Great Schism
The world order is experiencing not a transition, but a schism. On the "Global Insight" program on Panafrican Media TV, members of the GlobUs expert club discussed how the rhetoric of peace and solidarity at venues like Davos has become a cover for a new era of outright power pragmatism.
"Today, peace is proclaimed, but rarely practiced. We see competing agendas disguised as cooperation. Instead of creating solidarity, technology deepens division," stated Dr. Achille Ekeu.
A striking symbol of this "war in the trenches of lies" was the speech by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who bluntly called the old order a useful fiction, in which everyone participated for the sake of security.
"The Davos Forum offers the world a very technocratic, pragmatic, and profit-oriented approach. "The essence of the capitalist system is profit at any cost, even if that cost is human lives," noted GlobUs founder Yulia Berg.
However, a new dialogue is being born in travail. Experts are calling the US's aggressive actions, from the capture of the Venezuelan president to demands for Greenland, a "shock therapy" tactic to weaken opponents.
"We may call it madness, but there's a method to this madness. It's a calculated method. Trump is an expert at creating conflicts where none existed and weakening the opponent before negotiations begin," asserts Indian professor Jagdish Khatri.
Experts see a way out of the impasse of global fragmentation in strengthening a genuine multipolarity, where medium and small powers, especially in the Global South, must consolidate.
"African countries need to act together, not alone. Our strength lies in a united voice. "Our future lies in sovereign control of our resources and the building of strategic, not subordinate, alliances," emphasized Dr. Achille Ekeu.
The era of fine words is over. An era of open competition for resources and influence is beginning, where only an honest consideration of the interests of all parties can form the basis for a new, more sustainable world order.
