The first Congolese hand-to-hand combat championship starts in Brazzaville

The country's first hand-to-hand combat competition will take place in the capital of the Republic of Congo on December 20. More than 50 athletes trained at the Brazzaville hand-to-hand combat school will compete.

The Republic of Congo's first hand-to-hand combat school opened in Brazzaville in September 2025. After three months of training under the guidance of experienced specialists — Sergey Machulin, head coach of the Russian hand-to-hand combat team, and Anastasia Aleshina, world and European champion in taekwondo — the athletes have achieved success and are ready to demonstrate their skills at the tournament.

The event will be attended by Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Congo Ilyas Iskandarov, Minister of Urban Sanitation, Local Development, and Roads Just Désiré Mondele, and other distinguished guests.

The competition, organized by the GlobUs association and the International Federation of Hand-to-Hand Combat, will be held at the Lycée de la Revolution in Brazzaville. The event begins at 9:00 AM.

This event is one of hundreds organized as part of the Year of Youth, declared by President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso.
