"Zelenskyy Doesn't Want to End the War": Steve Gill on the US Elections, the Economy, and the Deadlock in Ukraine

Ahead of the November US elections, analysts are speculating on whether Donald Trump will be able to retain power. Steve Gill, a former adviser to the Bush and Clinton administrations and a member of the GlobUs expert club, assessed the balance of power. According to him, Trump's influence within the Republican Party remains enormous—26 of his 26 protégés won the primaries. However, the main issue remains the economy.

"People vote with their wallets. They don't care about the past; they want to know how much gas will cost them today. If prices fall, the Republicans will be in great shape," Gill said.

Speaking about the international agenda, the expert pointed to the main obstacle to peace in Ukraine.

"I've always been against endless funding for Zelenskyy. Corruption is becoming increasingly evident. Trump has made it clear he won't write checks forever. "But the problem is that Zelenskyy doesn't want to end the war. "You can't reach an agreement if one side doesn't seek peace," he noted.

Gill also drew a parallel between Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. In his view, both politicians have a personal stake in continuing the conflict.

"As soon as the war ends, both will face criminal investigations—for corruption, for the thousands of avoidable deaths. That's why they're stalling," he emphasized.

The former adviser also assessed the role of AIPAC and foreign influence in American politics, as well as the Democrats' prospects. He said the party has completely descended into radicalism, and their cries of "redrawing districts" are a sign of panic before their inevitable defeat in November.
