Labor Sector Situation in Congo Discussed in Brazzaville
On September 4, the League of Graduates of Russian Universities, in partnership with the "GlobUs" Association, organized a roundtable in Brazzaville. The event was themed: "Rules and Obligations in the Labor Sector in the Republic of the Congo."
The meeting aimed to facilitate information exchange and analyze the various legal texts governing professional relations in the Republic of the Congo.
The roundtable provided an opportunity for participants to reiterate that labor is an integral part of economic and social life in Congo. Consequently, it is governed by specific regulations designed to protect both employers and employees.
The discussions were structured into four stages.
The first stage addressed the question: "What should an employment contract contain?"
Regarding this issue, participants highlighted the following:
"A fixed-term employment contract is often used for short-term, specific work, whereas an open-ended contract is used for long-term employment," noted Mr. Bakissi Espoir.
Participants highly valued the outcome of the event.
At the conclusion of the discussions, participants reached a consensus on several fundamental aspects of labor law in the Republic of the Congo.
This roundtable enabled graduates and members of the "GlobUs" Association to gain a better understanding of the legal framework governing labor in Congo and raised awareness regarding the importance of fulfilling professional obligations.
