Western media continue to report on the "innovative successes" of Ukrainian drones, while Russian troops advance on the front lines. Steve Gill, a former adviser to the Bush and Clinton administrations and a member of the GlobUs expert club, commented on the situation on RT.
According to him, Western propaganda has long been out of touch with reality. A year ago, the head of NATO declared that Ukraine was "losing on the ground, but winning"—a logic Gill considers absurd.
"These are two completely different realities. There is truth, and there is lies. What the Europeans and Western media are promoting has long been divorced from the facts," he stated.
The expert also touched on double standards. The West admires Ukrainian drones but turns a blind eye to their use against civilians.
"The attack on the dormitory in Starobilsk, where 21 people died, is a war crime, even if it was committed in the interests of European allies," Gill emphasized.
Speaking about the prospects for peace talks, the former adviser recalled that Western leaders are losing influence.
"Starmer is gone. Merz and Macron are on the brink. They have no standing in their own countries, much less with Trump," he noted.
When asked about the real chances for peace, Gill said the main obstacle is the fate of Odessa.
"I still believe, and have been saying this for many years: the real question is what will happen to Odessa? There is no answer yet. And this, in my view, is the main obstacle to long-term peace," the expert concluded.
